The Lampwork Process

Lampwork beads are made one at a time over a torch.

About

After working as a potter and graphic designer for nearly forty years, I was ready to try something new.

I discovered lampwork in 2007 and quickly became enamored with this challenging and remarkably malleable medium. In particular, I fell in love with the feeling of tranquility that accompanies the intense focus and concentration required by glasswork. I began making glass beads, calling on my design experience to guide color and composition choices. Before long, after creating more beads than I knew what to do with, I decided it was time to try my hand at jewelry.

The jewelry-making process is wholly different, but no less rewarding, than lampwork. I’m fortunate enough to have been able to merge these two passions of mine in order to create unique wearable art.

My work has been featured in a number of craft shows in and around the Seattle, Washington area including the Edmonds Art Festival, Best of the Northwest, Seattle Sampling, and the North End Arts Tour (NEAT). You can find a diverse sampling of my work on my online store, including glass bead necklaces, bracelets, earrings, ring tops and pendants.

Note: The earring, pendant and ring pages show samples only, and are not necessarily in stock. The necklace and bracelet sections are current inventory. Take a look at our lampwork glass beads and beaded necklaces. I hope you enjoy the fruits of my labor.
